The great theologian and Bible teacher, A.B. Bruce stated that “Cures should be as common as conversion, and that Christ’s healing miracles are signs that disease does not belong to the true order of nature and are but a prophecy that the true order must be restored to us.”

He states this so emphatically because the work of salvation cannot be limited to only the saving of the soul. The same vicarious work on the Cross that saves the soul also heals the body. He then further adds “that the true order must be restored to us.” The true order is health for our bodies and healing for the sick.

The prophet Jeremiah declares the plan of God to revive and restore Judah from their captivity:

Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth. 7And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will rebuild those, as at the first. 8I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned, and by which they have transgressed against Me. 9Then it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honour before all nations of the earth, who shall hear all the good that I do to them; they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and all the prosperity that I provide for it.

Thus says the LORD: ‘Again there shall be heard in this place–of which you say, “It is desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast, in the cities of Judah, in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant, and without beast, the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who will say: “Praise the LORD of hosts, for the LORD is good, for his mercy endures forever”– and of those who will bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause the captives of the land to return as at the first,’ says the LORD. Thus says the LORD of hosts: In this place which is desolate, without man and without beast, and in all its cities, there shall again be a dwelling place of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down. (Jeremiah 33:6-12)

Note these key similarities, which we will see in the restoration of God’s power to the Church.

Health and Healing (v. 6) I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them.

Rebuilding and Returning (v. 7) I will cause the captives…to return, and will rebuild those places as at the first.

We will see a return of the carnal, the backslidden, and the defeated to the City of our God, and the lives of many will be rebuilt. The glory of the early Church will be restored to today’s Church.

Purity (v. 8) I will cleanse them from all their iniquity.

The Church and our lives will be cleansed and made holy, and in this state of righteousness we will see the power of God restored.

The voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who will say: “Praise the LORD of hosts, for the LORD is good, for His mercy endures forever.” (v. 11)

The world will know that our Redeemer lives! They will have to stand and observe the glorious power of God flow through us and we will be a praise and joy to our God!

We are living in days of refreshing, restoration, and revival. The Church of Jesus Christ is being raised up, and what was lost, stolen, and destroyed is coming back. The glory of the latter house will be greater than the former. I believe that what was done by the early Church will be done by the last days Church.

Joy and Praise (v. 9) Then it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honour before all nations…who shall hear all the good that I do to them.

Faith Must Have A Foundation

There are walls of doubt and unbelief that hinder the flow of the Spirit, for the things of the Spirit are accessed and operated by faith. Faith must have a foundation, and that foundation is the Word of God. If faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, then that’s what we need. Doubt comes also. It comes by hearing the word of the world and of natural man. We must tear down the walls of doubt!

This course is not only an opportunity for you to get to know what the Word of God teaches concerning divine healing, but also an opportunity to get to know the Healer Himself. It is out of the overflow of your relationship with Him that you will be a carrier of the healing anointing to the sick and dying of this generation.

As I write this I have just returned from a healing meeting in San Juan in which God raised a woman who had not walked for seven years. Many others were touched, healed, and delivered from demons. The result was that over 530 precious souls were saved. Last week I saw a deaf ear open, a blind man see, and a goitre disappear. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He is raising up His Church into the true New Testament anointing which is not in Word only, but in power and demonstration. My prayer is that you, too, will be used by God to reach the multitudes and to see them healed.

Scripture Memorisation

As you study this subject, each chapter has a verse to memorise. This will help you to have a better recall of Scripture, especially as you share the Word of God. You can use the Word of God as a sword against the enemy in warfare. This simple exercise will strengthen and build your life. By committing yourself to five minutes each day you will soon be able to quote many verses of Scripture.

1. Luke 4:18

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.

2. 1 Peter 2:24

Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

3. Exodus 15:26

If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.

4. Psalms 103:3

Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases.

5. Matthew 14:36

And begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. and as many as touched it were made perfectly well.

6. Luke 6:40

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.

7. Psalm 107:20

He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions
