Dr. Leon’s Sermon Notes

In the music industry, bands will use an amplifier to boost the sound. Rock musicians will not boost but blast the sound…and personally I like that loud sound. Nothing like a battery of Marshall Amps blasting the sound of a great lead break…even if your ears buzz for a few hours as an after affect.

Amplified Defined

Increase the volume of (sound), especially using an amplifier. “the accompanying chords have been amplified in our arrangement”To make larger, greater, or stronger; enlarge; extend.

Joshua 6:1-5 (NKJV)

1  Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in.
2  And the LORD said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor.”
3  You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all
around the city once. This you shall do six days.
4  And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the
priests shall blow the trumpets.
5  It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.”

  • Talk about the impact of loud faith…
  • The walls came down
  • The city was destroyed
  • The Lord gave the victory
  • The people obeyed the Word of God and as they shouted (amplified) the walls came down

5 KINDS OF “SHOUTS” – Amplification

Psalm 98:4-6 (NKJV)

4  Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises.
5  Sing to the LORD with the harp, With the harp and the sound of a Psalm,
6  With trumpets and the sound of a horn; Shout joyfully before the LORD, the King.

War Cry
1 Samuel 17:20

So David arose early in the morning and left the flock with a keeper and took the supplies and went as Jesse had commanded him. And he came to the circle of the camp while the army was going out in battle array shouting the war cry.

People Lifting up their voices
Luke 17:15

Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice.

God Himself Shouts
1Thess 4:16

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

Revelation 4:1

After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

Jesus Spoke with a Loud Voice
John 7:28-29

28Then Jesus spoke with a loud voice as He taught in the house of God. He said, “You know Me. You know where I came from. I have not come on My own. The One Who sent Me is true but you do not know Him. 29 I know Him because I am from Him and He sent Me.”

John 7:37-39

37 It was the last and great day of the religious gathering. Jesus stood up and spoke with a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.

38 The Holy Writings say that rivers of living water will flow from the heart of the one who puts his trust in Me.” 39 Jesus said this about the Holy Spirit Who would come to those who put their trust in Him. The Holy Spirit had not yet been given. Jesus had not yet been raised to the place of honor.

  • The Devil wants to Mute the Sound of the Gospel
  • The world or modern humanistic society and the Devil wants to Mute the sound of our Praise
  • The Devil wants to Mute your faith and Authority
  • The Devil wants to Mute the gospel
  • The Devil wants to Mute your vision
  • The Devil wants to Mute your anointing

At times I quote from the Amplified Version. Here is an example:

““For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him [as personal Savior and Lord] is not judged [for this one, there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation]; but the one who does not believe [and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord] is judged already [that one has been convicted and sentenced], because he has not believed and trusted in the name of the [One and] only begotten Son of God [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save him].”

John 3:16-18 AMP

Note how the Amplified Translation expands the meaning and even as you read the passage, it sounds louder than other versions.

We have different personalities; introverts who are normally withdrawn and quiet and extroverts who are louder and bolder in many ways. They normally like to dress in bold colors, and bling, bling. I am an introvert.

I may be bold in the Word and the ministry, but I am actually a recluse and live a very quiet and fairly private life.

When I talk about living Amplified, I am not suggesting that introverts buy a new selection of clothes that are bold and become loud and in your face. Rather, I am talking about living to the full potential of God’s call upon your life.

Living Amplified means making your days on earth count to the full.

  • It is living to your maximin potential and accessing all the gifts and abilities that God has graced you with.
  • Many people are trapped in an existence where they never reach deep within and lay hold of their destiny.
  • Some are trapped in the busyness of everyday life living from pay check to paycheck, they never launch out and discover the purposes of God. Their lives consist of getting up in the morning, working all day and watching tv all night until they fall asleep. They don’t read or explore the wealth of knowledge that is available. They don’t expand their thinking to include anyone or anything except those closest to them. And then, because they are frustrated and miserable, they are not even nice to those closest to them. They are grumpy and rude! Their personal unhappiness becomes contagious and everyone around them becomes trapped in their cycle of existence.

Jesus said, I have come to give you life and life more abundantly!

This abundant life is not gaining stuff and living on easy street. It’s about making your life count for something bigger than yourself. It’s living your life to the full…it’s living an Amplified life!

Most people only access a small percentage of their potential. They live minimum instead of maximum!

The volume of their lives is so low that no one hears them. They have no sound, no message and as a result no one pays any attention to them.

They are not leaders but followers and if they project any volume it’s to complain about the government, big business and how badly they are treated. They live with a mentality that everyone owes them, and no one cares to help them.

Even as parents they don’t lead their children but drive them away with insults and constant complaints. They never address the power of their potential and infuse the kids with a sense of purpose and vision.

People who have no sense of purpose are unable to turn up the volume and they mostly talk about failed government, sicknesses and ailments.

If they are Christians, they probably talk more about the devil than God. Their thinking is crippled by their circumstances and their lives are chained to their issues.

Interject!!!! …not being loud and obnoxious

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV

You must understand that God has a plan for your life

In order to live amplified you must come to a place where you understand that God has a plan for your life.

I want you to. really, really and I mean really grasp the fact that God has prepared a work for you even before the foundation of the earth.

Before you were in your mother’s womb, or as my Mom used to say before I was twinkle in her eye, God separated you to Himself.

There is a measure of faith, gifting and abilities that God has invested in you. Very much like the parable of the talents it is up to you what you will do with this entrustment. You can bury it or invest it. Hopefully you will be diligent in the holy employment of this grace that has been bestowed upon you.

The potential of your life is immeasurable and sadly most people will only tap into a fraction of this in their life.

For a moment, forget the God-given calling and we will discuss the natural abilities of the human soul. Inventions, designs, artistic masterpieces, music played, and books written many that have greatly influenced humanity have come from souls that are lost in their sins and yet they are brilliant. Now add the power of the recreated spirit and the gifts of God and you are looking at God’s artistic masterpiece wrapped in flesh and bones.

You have to ask God to show you His plan and purpose for your life. He will not be silent. His word says that if you seek, you will find and if you knock the door will be opened for you. When God begins to reveal the plan, He has for you, embrace it…. don’t argue with God. Don’t try to advise God as if He has made a mistake but rather with humility and praise accept His master plan for your life.

Remember, it’s not too late! You are not too old, or too young to begin living an amplified life. Today is the start of the rest of your life and you can do something great.

Moses was eighty when at the burning bush he discovered God’s plan for his life.

Caleb was also over eighty when he laid hold of the dream of God for his life.

Gideon didn’t believe that God would raise him as a great leader and a warrior because in the natural he was the least in his father’s house and in his mind, they were the least in Israel, but God believed in Gideon.

Jeremiah on the other hand thought that he was too young but in reality, there was enough God-potential in him that God would raise Jeremiah to become a powerful and loud voice to Israel.

John was banished to Patmos where the devil thought he could mute the sound of the Gospel through this Apostle and friend of Jesus. Jesus came and delivered him from the imprisonment and greatly amplified his voice. In fact, his message was so loud that every time you read the Book of Revelation you can still hear the sound of his message.

Your age, your lack of strength or your limiting circumstances can’t silence your life and purpose. All you have to do is get into agreement with God.

You must be renewed in your mind

You need to learn how to communicate life|

Begin to exercise, eat healthy and get proper rest.|

You will have to learn to value time and make your seconds count

You will have to be a giver and not a taker.
(There is a difference between taking and receiving!)

You have to begin to build others up through positive communication and encouragement

Stop watching mindless TV shows. You will have to begin to read, research and study.

See your life making a difference in society, the church and your family. If you can’t see you can’t do it! You have to learn how to dream and visualize.

Be light…be salt and live loud
