6 Keys to your Promotion and Increase

The 6 Keys

5.Unwavering Commitment

The Goal is Fruitfulness

““I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” – John 15:1-8 NKJV

  • Relationship
  • Consistently
  • Fruit is the evidence of relationship
  • Where there is intimacy…life there is growth
  • Personal growth
  • Increase in anointing
  • Increase in ability

Growth is organic but at the same time it is not automatic but intentional – environment, heart attitude of desire and the passionate pursuit after God and the things of God.

(Don’t beat up the people!!!!!!!
The devil beats up Gods people
World ridicules)

My task is to build you up and encourage you. However, I will not tickle ears stroke your ego and flatter you. I will warn you about the dangers and challenge you to make the changes to become your best

“Every Scripture has been inspired by the Holy Spirit, the breath of God. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness. Then you will be God’s servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 TPT

God is raising up a people who will make themselves available to make a difference in their generation…world shakers!

  1. He is calling us
  2. We are making ourselves available

You should not be aiming for the lowest level but the highest

Jesus did not aim for average ordinary mediocre but His highest

  • He taught go the second mile
  • Give your all

Paul near the end of his life:

“I admit that I haven’t yet acquired the absolute fullness that I’m pursuing, but I run with passion into his abundance so that I may reach the purpose that Jesus Christ has called me to fulfill and wants me to discover. I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however, I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus. So, let all who are fully mature have this same passion, and if anyone is not yet gripped by these desires, God will reveal it to them. And let us all advance together to reach this victory-prize, following one path with one passion.” – Philippians 3:12-16 TPT

“Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.”

I Chronicles 4:9-10 NKJV

Promotion comes from the Lord

*****More Lord!!!

Not that God has somehow held back on us

He is Jehovah Jirra…El Shaddai
He is generous and extremely rich
Rich in mercy
Full of Grace

Increase not because we have a sense of insufficiency but out desire for the upward call into all He desires for us….

(Psalm 75:6-7) “For promotion and power come from nowhere on earth, but only from God. He promotes one and deposes another.”

Increase, growth and promotion comes from God.

Sonship – as close as you want…all has been given…lay hold of what Jesus has provided…unlimited access

Servanthood – attitude…selfless

Stewardship – accountability gift ministry authority time body finances church

He gives us all a place to start; where you start is not where you should finish. IF…and I stress if, Jesus finds you busy and possessing these 6 Key Principles in your life you will be promoted and increased.

God cannot and will not promote sloth…or laziness.

He will not promote a person because of their amazing personality and creativity. God will violate His word if He promoted the lazy…unfaithful…

God promotes a person based on their Character and Fruitfulness.

Well Done

Matthew 25:14-30

““For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise, he who had received two gained two more also. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. After a long time, the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. “So, he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’ “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. Therefore, take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.”

Matthew 25:14-29 NKJV

Luke 19:11-27

“Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately. Therefore, He said: “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’ But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’ “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’ And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’ Likewise he said to him, ‘You also be over five cities.’ “Then another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief. For I feared you, because you are an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ And he said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow. Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’ “And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.’ (But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’) ‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’””

Luke 19:11-27 NKJV

There are two parables that address increase and promotion.

  1. The Parable of the Talents
  2. The Parable of the Minas

Though these Parables are similar in that they both address promotion, increase and the, “Well Done!”

The difference between these two parables are:

In the Parable of the Talents, the 3 people each received different amounts of Talents. One man received 5 Talents, the second received 2, and the third received 1- Each according to their ability

However, in the parable of the Minas, the recipients each received the equal 10 Minas amount.

Most people think that these Parables speak of eternal rewards, but I believe that they address promotion and increase on earth. We know that “well done” is on earth because the faithful servants received financial increase on earth (Talents) and cities to rule (Minas) on earth.

“And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice:

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!” And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!””

Revelation 5:9-13 NKJV

Typically, people think when they get to heaven Jesus will say, “Well Done!” but in Heaven we say to Jesus, “Well Done!” Our song will be “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain!” We will not be saying, “Worthy is the missionary, pastor, children’s worker or intercessor!” Though there are rewards or crowns that will be given in Heaven, these Parables are addressing promotion and increase on earth.

The Rewards in Heaven are:

  • The Crown of Life (Revelation 2:10)
  • The Incorruptible Crown (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)
  • The Crown of Righteousness (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
  • The Crown of Glory (1 Peter 5:1-4)
  • The Crown of Exultation (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20)

These are the Rewards of Eternity or Heaven; this is different from receiving promotion and increase on earth.

  • You only get the “well done” when you did the work excellently
  • You are only called good and faithful, when you are actually good and faithful
  • Jesus does not owe you a “Well Done!” it is earned and then acknowledged by Him
  • You are not promoted for your intensions, but by your actions

“The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters!” Romans 8:19 TPT

Imagine a circle around your life…for some it may be twenty people around you in your circle; others fifty, hundreds, thousands etc. We call that the “Circle of your influence.” When Jesus said let your light so shine…He was implying in your world or your circle of influence.

“As a result of our ministry, you are living letters written by Christ, not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God—not carved onto stone tablets but on the tablets of tender hearts.” – 2 Corinthians 3:3 TPT

You are God’s light revealed in that circle and in that circle you are a living epistle read by men. You are the closest that some people will ever get to Jesus or reading the Bible…in that Circle. You are God’s ambassador.

If you serve God faithfully, diligently, excellently etc. in that circle then He will, upon inspection, promote you and increase you. He will increase you and He will expand your circle. He will not only promote you but with this promotion will come increased ability, authority and anointing. He will not give you more that you can handle.

Principle of Promotion:

  1. Increased Favor
  2. Increased Authority
  3. Increased Concern and Involvement
  4. Increased Ability
  5. Increased Visions
  6. Increased Faith
  7. Increased Responsibility
  8. Increased Accountability

Next Level

We often talk about or hear about, “Going to the next Level!” – by this we imply promotion or increase.

In going to this next level, you may have an encounter with God in the Spirit and that releases into you the vision and anointing.

However, in going to the next level, is not just a conscious encounter with God it is also increased effort and engagement. It is from this encounter that we gain access to an increased circle of influence.

  • We have to do something with what we have received to gain promotion. Idle, lazy, indifferent people are not going to be promoted or experience increase.
  • People who don’t invest their God-given gifts and callings are not promoted.
  • We see this principle in these parables of the Talents and the Minas. It was the ones who invested their entrustment that gained the promotion.

Also Note these Scripture:

(Matthew 10:5-8) “Freely you have received, freely give”

(Luke 12:48) “To whom much is given much is required”

(Romans 12:3)
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

  • We are given a measure if faith
  • We are not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought too
  • We are to be faithful, diligent and excellent etc. and only then will God increase and promotes us

(Luke 2:52) – And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men

(2 Peter 3:18) – but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

(1 Timothy 4:14-15) – Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.

“Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” – I Timothy 4:14-16 NKJV

“But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” – II Timothy 4:5 NKJV

Here are 6 Keys to Promotion and Increase:

Before we get into the details of these 6 Keys to Promotion I want to briefly discuss grace. This in itself is an entire subject, but to keep the principles of promotion and increase in balance and theological accuracy, I must briefly address this word, grace.

“Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;”

Romans 1:5-6 NKJV

  • We are not saved by what we do; we are saved by the Blood of Jesus
  • We are not saved by works, we are saved by the grace of God
  • We are saved and gifted by God to do good works. With salvation comes calling and gifting that requires of us works (Ephesians 2:8-10)
  • We are gifted or entrusted with divine enablement by grace (1 Corinthians 15:10) “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”
  • Notice this grace caused a great responsibility to be upon Paul’s life that caused him to work hard. (Romans 15:15-16; Galatians 1:15) “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace,”
  • In summary the grace that saves us also enables or gifts our lives, but with this divine grace also places a demand upon us for engagement, or involvement.
  • Grace should not be understood to live indifferent, uninvolved, passive or neutral in your walk with God.

Remember, Uncle Ben’s advice to Spiderman! “With great power comes great responsibility!” Peter Parker

Our works will be examined by Jesus:

  • For reward in Eternity
  • Not for punishment (grace) but for reward (Bema Seat -Heaven)
  • For promotion on earth.

Key 1: Faithfulness leads to Promotion and Increase

Faithful Defined: Loyal, constant to the cause; to be steadfast

(Matthew 25:23) – His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

– Faithful with little…faithful with much.

(1 Timothy 1:12) – And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry

(Proverbs 28:20) – A faithful man will abound with blessings

Luke 16:10-11 – (This includes faithfulness in our giving; not just in ministry but also finances!!!)

He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches

(Luke 16:12) – And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own?

– If you can’t be faithful serving under someone else you will not be released to your own.

– Principle of loyalty and submission

(1 Corinthians 4:2) – Moreover, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful

One of the greatest areas of frustration for pastors is the apparent lack of faithfulness…

  • Attendance
  • Involvement, serving
  • Giving
  • Prayer
  • Personal devotions

Key 2: Diligence leads to Promotion and Increase

Diligence Defined: determination and careful effort. An example of diligence is a person who does a job efficiently and takes care of little details.

(Proverbs 13:4) – The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

(Proverbs 12:24) – The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.

(Proverbs 21:5) – The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.

(Proverbs 10:4) – He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich

The Opposite of Diligence is sloth

Reluctance to work or make an effort. A slow moving mammal…Webster’s Dictionary: Spiritual apathy and inactivity the deadly sin of sloth. The Greek means absence of care …indifference or negligence. Some people are busy but they are spiritually slothful in that they excuse themselves from spirituality because of their busyness.

The lazy don’t recognize opportunity and lack daily discipline and the importance of routine

“He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.” – Proverbs 10:4-5 NKJV

The lazy person has dreams, potential but doesn’t make plans and even worse if they do have plans they never execute them

(Proverbs 13:4) – The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

Neglecting the things of God because of temporal issues is a excuse. It’s nit an alibi…but an excuse.

The lazy person will lack leadership abilities and creativity and as a result they will be led and will be reluctant followers

(Proverbs 12:24) – The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.

The lazy person does not know what to do with increase

The lazy man does not roast what he took in hunting, But diligence is man’s precious possession.” – Proverbs 12:27 NKJV

The lazy don’t increase because they won’t study, read, meditate and are dependent on others to feed them

“A lazy man buries his hand in the bowl, And will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.” – Proverbs 19:24 NKJV

The lazy don’t want to be inconvenienced by opportunity and refuse to seize the day because of imperfect environment. The lazy person cannot plan or see past the immediate

The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing.” – Proverbs 20:4 NKJV

The lazy person lacks planning and discipline

“The desire of the lazy man kills him, For his hands refuse to labor.” – Proverbs 21:25 NKJV

The lazy man desires victory without a fight
They see the problem but can’t find the solution
They want others to resolve the issues especially where there is risk

“The lazy man says, “There is a lion in the road! A fierce lion is in the streets!””
Proverbs 26:13 NKJV

Key 3: Honor leads to Promotion and Increase

Honor Defined: Homage, reverence, deference mean respect and esteem shown to another. honor may apply to the recognition of one’s right to great respect or to any expression of such recognition.

(Proverbs 3:9-1) – Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.

  • In other words when you honor God in your giving, service, or ministry there you will find increase and promotion!
  • When you place God first in all that you do there you will find increase and promotion!

(Exodus 20:12) – Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

  • When you give honor to those who lead you it leads to promotion and increase
  • Look at Nehemiah; he honored the King and therefore he was favored and promoted.
  • Same with Daniel
  • Joseph displayed honor in Potipher’s house and in the Prison and this led to his promotion.

Key 4: Excellence leads to Promotion and Increase

Excellence Defined: The quality of being outstanding or extremely good…distinction, quality, superiority, brillliance, greatness, merit, caliber, eminence

(Daniel 5:12) – Because an excellent spirit, knowledge, and understanding to interpret dreams, explain riddles, and solve problems were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation.

(Daniel 6:3) – Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.

Key 5: Unwavering Commitment leads to Promotion and Increase

Unwavering Commitment Defined: Strong, not weakening, steady or resolute

(Philippians 2:5-9) – Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore, God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

  • We see this principle of unwavering commitment in the life and death of our Lord. He never gave in and therefore He was “promoted” (exalted).
  • Notice the Scripture says that we must have this same “mind” or better described as attitude. The attitude of a servant and especially unwavering in our commitment.

One of the greatest accounts of unwavering commitment that led to promotion is seen in these 3 young Jewish men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. They refused to bow and pay homage to an image because the Law of God commanded that this only be done to the Living God.

(Daniel 3:16-18) – Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

They would rather be killed than compromise and this led to their death sentence. But God! The “Forth Man” appeared in the fire with them and they were released from the fire untouched by it.

(Daniel 3:28-30) – Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God! Therefore, I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this.” Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego in the province of Babylon.

As a result of their unwavering faith in God these 3 men were promoted.

  1. Obedience

(John 14:15) – “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

(I Samuel 15:22) – So Samuel said: “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.”

(Deuteronomy 11:26–28) – “Obey and you will be blessed. Disobey and you will be cursed.”

According to Holman’s Illustrated Bible Dictionary a succinct definition of biblical obedience is “to hear God’s Word and act accordingly.”

You can only grow to your level of obedience:

  • To the Word of God
  • To the Voice of God

If you are disobedient it will cause a ceiling to limit your growth and potential promotion.

Obey Pastor and Delegated Authorities

Legal, Biblical…for your best interests and potential
Not talking Jim Jones!
Comply, carry out the command to submit

“Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.”

Hebrews 13:17 NKJV – “Obey your [spiritual] leaders and submit to them [recognizing their authority over you], for they are keeping watch over your souls and continually guarding your spiritual welfare as those who will give an account [of their stewardship of you]. Let them do this with joy and not with grief and groans, for this would be of no benefit to you.”

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore, from now on you shall have wars.”” – II Chronicles 16:9 NKJV

The eyes of the Lord go to and fro throughout all the earth looking for people who are faithful, diligent, walking in honor, excellent and with unwavering commitment, who He wants to expand, increase and promote.

He desires to raise up people who will lead, build, grow and advance the Kingdom.

He desires to release increased anointing, ability and authority in this who will be faithful, diligent, walk in honor, excellent and with an unwavering faith.

  • Will you be one He can see and find walking in these characteristics?
  • Will you reposition your life so that whatever needs change, transformation and adjustment that He can increase you and promote you?
