Offering Teachings
The offering is not a time the pastor should try and get out of the way as quickly as possible. The offering time is as much a part of the worship as the singing and the music. The offering is an act of worship and, therefore, it should be handled in such a way that it honors God.
As a part of the worship, it should be properly prepared for and be given appropriate time. The teaching of the Word before receiving an offering is important for the following reasons:
- Faith comes by hearing, and when people give, they should give in faith rather than as an act of mere duty.
- The entrance of the Word will bring clarity (revelation), light and understanding.
- The Word brings order and prevents wrong thinking to remain, as the Word renews the mind.
- Many people have been shaped by religious tradition in their thinking, and the Word will teach what God has to say.
Many people have been told that all preachers or TV evangelists want is their money, so they are suspicious and critical. When the Word is taught without manipulation, it will bring God’s mind into prominence rather than deceptive trends.
Simply said, we need to teach the Word because the Word affects every area of life, including how we as Christians handle money.
Offering Teaching Outlines for Pastors
I have decided to help pastors with their offering teachings by developing regular offering teachings. It is my desire that these outlines will help pastors with their preparation for this important area of the worship service.
